How and Why Crossdressers Should Protect Their Privacy Online
Hello to you all, sweeties! Have you noticed how lately more and more accounts or services are linked between them? This platform interoperability makes use of sensitive personal information which you just don’t wanna share with anyone. One of the most annoying is spam, yet far from the most dangerous one.
In today’s article, we are going to see some methods and alternatives to make it easy to track the level of privacy you feel comfortable with. I’m sure all of you have received spam in the past or even got hacked! Update your security and surf the Internet safely!
Why Is Online Security Important?
Crossdressing is a very personal matter. And many of us can’t make it public even despite our wishes. For those for whom dressing up is a private matter, it’s important to keep your crossdressing identity safe and secure. And those that don’t care much about making their feminine desires public, perhaps, are the ones who should be paying more attention to this article. Not worrying about something can lead to the biggest overlooked and common mistakes. And with some simple fidgeting, all your accounts can be safe, preventing scams of any sort. Whether you’re just starting to explore your gender identity or you’ve been crossdressing for years, it’s important to take steps to protect yourself and your privacy. These days, some services require a lot of personal information. Whether we are too trusty or take it very lightly, we share our data, and sometimes, only to regret it afterward.
Using A Secondary Email Account
A perfect way to keep things compartmented and easier to control. The amount of personal information you share with your work, personal, and leisure accounts should not be the same. Especially if you want to keep some things super secret! This is particularly important nowadays when all of our information is shared across a plethora of platforms, and identifying is not too hard to do. If you don’t mind this, you will have all your socials, email accounts, and others filled with compromising ads that may out you! Using a second or even a third email account in case you need to recover your password prevents this!
Using Your Browser In Private Mode
We talked about in the last paragraph how easy it is for artificial intelligence to know that you are indeed you across platforms. One of the biggest sources for this information comes from your browser. Even if you take care of deleting your history after you are down surfing the web many other things remain. These pieces of information are enough for you to start seeing uncomfortable ads and suggested posts. Using your browser in private mode prevents these traces of information from remaining on your device or even recognizing it! You can go the extra mile by either using a VPN or a browser that already comes with one. Be warned that your internet connection will be much slower while using a VPN.
Using Strong Passwords
This tip, like many others on this list, should be accounted for all of your accounts. Using strong and unique passwords for each of your online accounts will drastically improve their security. This, of course, includes your second online identity. You can use a password manager to help you generate and store complex passwords. But they are secure as long as you can remember them! Keeping them all written down in a secret notebook is a good option if you hide it very well! Mind that you shouldn’t carry it around everywhere you go! You can lose it! Some services take care of backing up every single one of your passwords. Sadly, this is no magical solution at all since one of the biggest providers has been hacked! You would be just adding to a pool a much bigger target than only you!
Logging In Third-Party Apps
This is something that’s becoming more present every day through different platforms. If you use the Internet regularly, you may be familiar with this method. Sometimes it appears as a prompt message or even in the logging step of any given website. This comes very handy when you wanna try a new service that requires an account but you don’t want to take the time to create one. It also saves us from the trouble of remembering another password and noting it down somewhere safe. But the tricky thing about it is that much of your data is now shared with the service’s server. Which of your personal information is shared is sometimes not clear, and even when it is, there are reasons to doubt most of them. Very much like with the COVID pandemic, to keep your information and accounts secure, the more isolated they are, the safer!
Using Personal Information Carefully
As we have seen, all of our information is shared across many sites and databases. This means that every day it is becoming harder to keep accounts separate. And there is the ever-growing trend of KYC (know-your-customer) policies that require more and more personal information to open a hardly justifiable account. This is why I think it is so important to think to what extent you’ll be using a platform and decide which of your data is too sensitive to share on each service. Needless to say, you should never share personal or sensitive information with other users online. You never know if the other person has an ulterior motive. In case you get the chance to meet with someone you met online, always do so somewhere safe!
Getting A Second Telephone Line
Given the increasing trend of social platforms and online services that ask for your number for security reasons. There may be a million ways they can design a secure or maybe even more without the need for your telephone. You can always go ahead and put in any random number when asked. But you would be forfeiting total control of your account. Or as total as the service’s provider lets you have. For these situations, you can acquire a second telephone line to use for some specific accounts. Even though it is another expense to take care of, you shouldn’t treat this as your main line. A prepaid number is amazing for these cases because it becomes so cheap. You’ll only need to throw some bucks at it to keep your network provider from disconnecting the line now and then. To be certain how often you should do so, check prepaid plans available in your area!
And this is all for today! There are a dozen more steps you can follow to improve even further your online security, but I didn’t want to make it far too complex.
