Movies & Shows Every Trans Girl & Femboy Should Watch This Summer
Growing up, summer was always my favourite season because it was the perfect excuse for me to binge-watch movies and shows.

If you don’t have much to do and are wondering how to spend your summer break, I’ve got you covered. Just like me, you can use summer as the perfect excuse to catch up with all the femboy movies and shows that you’ve missed out on.
Hi love. Today, I’ll walk you through 7 must-watch movies and shows that are perfect for trans women and femboys this summer. Are you excited yet? Let’s get started.
When You Want a Good Laugh
You know I had to start with this category because I absolutely love a good comedy, especially in summer. That’s because the season comes with some challenges, such as body and gender dysphoria.

So if you want to escape reality for a little bit and not have a single care in the world, here are some great movies for trans girls you can watch.
-
Flower Girl
Honestly speaking, this is a must-watch movie for all trans women. It’s funny, witty, and will leave you roaring with laughter from the plot twists.
Here’s what it’s about. So the main character, Ena, gets cursed because she was cruel and she insulted a trans woman. So when she’s in bed with a guy, her vagina disappears and is replaced with a magical flower.

Shocked and embarrassed, she jumps out and tries to figure out what the hell is going on. Then she discovers that she needs to find someone who really loves her, even without her vagina, before the last petal of the flower falls.
I had the best time watching this show, especially because it wasn’t your typical American movie. It’s actually Filipino, so that was interesting to see. Overall, I would give it a solid 8, so add it to your femboy movie recommendation list.
-
Transaction
If you don’t just want to watch a one-and-a-half-hour comedy and are looking for something to enjoy all summer long, then I recommend checking out this sitcom.

Just like Flower Girl, Transaction also has themes of trans awareness, trans acceptance, and the LGBTQ+ community.
The story begins when Liv, a transgender woman, is hired by a supermarket to help it overcome a public image crisis. However, she discovered that she can’t be fired, so she made it her mission to have the time of her life.
I really loved binge-watching this sitcom because it made me feel incredibly relatable. It was refreshing to see a transgender actress as the main character of a show, and I felt seen.

Also, if you’re a fan of dark humour, you’ll love the comebacks she gives. Once you’ve watched a couple of episodes, you can put it in the background as you have your hot trans girl summer walk, as you fold your laundry, or even as you eat dinner and unwind after a long day.
-
The Wedding Banquet
You know I had to save the best comedy for last. I promise you that this trans girl movie recommendation will have you roaring with laughter because of how silly it is.
Essentially, The Wedding Banquet is a remake of the original film, released more than 30 years ago in 1993. And if you ask me, this one is way better.

The story is a bit wild, but that’s what makes it a must-watch movie for trans girls. It starts with a lesbian couple, Angela and Lee, who want to have a baby through IVF. But unfortunately, the second round is unsuccessful, and they are left devastated because they can’t afford a third round.
Angela’s gay best friend, Chris, lives with them in their basement with his Korean boyfriend, Min. Hell unfolds when Min’s grandmother calls him to demand that he leave Seattle and return to South Korea to run the family business.
To avoid going back home, Min proposes to Chris, but Chris turns down the proposal because Min hasn’t come out to his family yet, and he risks getting financially cut off.

So the four of them quickly hatch a crazy plan. Min gets down on one knee and proposes to Angela. This way, he can get a green card and stay in the country, and in exchange, he’ll use his family’s money to pay for the IVF.
But just when they think they’re out of the woods, Min’s grandma makes a big deal out of the proposal and wants a big Korean wedding. Nothing but drama unfolds during the wedding, and you’ll have a good laugh watching the disaster.
I had a great time watching this show, as it was witty and funny, and made me think about important topics, such as the struggles of IVF and the challenges of being accepted by one’s family. 10/10 recommendation from me.

When You Want Something Steamy
The next category I have for you is a steamy series that will leave you feeling hotter than the summer heat. Here is my favourite one this summer.
-
I Kissed a Boy
It’s been so long since I binged a good reality show, and what makes this one even better is that it’s not your typical show for straight people. It’s a gay dating show tailored for our LGBTQ+ community, so that was refreshing to see.

In the series, 10 single guys from all over the UK go to Italy and live in a huge house together. You and I know what that means. There’s lots of flirting, kissing, touching, and definitely lots of drama.
If you love reality shows, I highly recommend checking it out. Plus, the guys on the show are definitely eye candy, so it’s a win-win.
When You Want To Come Out
Sometimes we need a good TV series to remind us of how far we’ve come as part of the LGBTQ+ community. And to create awareness among our friends and families so that they can understand what it’s like to be in our shoes.

If you’re planning on coming out as transgender this summer, you can watch this series with your family and use it as an icebreaker to bring up the topic.

What It Feels Like for a Girl
This series, in particular, is particularly close to my heart because it’s extremely raw and emotional. No wonder it received such a good rating, as it touched so many people.
It’s set in the early 2000s, and to be honest, it feels a little uncomfortable to watch. That’s because it explores things we go through as trans women, such as gender identity, learning how to survive, and even trauma.

But what made this series special to me is that, despite the heavy topics, I also got some transgender dating tips and saw what amazing trans love can look like.
Lastly, the music in the series was great too, taking you back to the early 2000s, so you can definitely add some of it to your Spotify or Apple Music playlist.
When You Want a Timeless Classic
There’s something about timeless classic movies that takes you back to a simpler time in life. These movies came out in the early 2000s, and it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come as trans girls and femboys since then.

If you’re in the mood for ice cream and some nostalgia, then give these a try.
-
TransAmerica
When I was in my teens and battling with gender identity, a close friend of mine recommended this movie to me. I couldn’t even explain in words how I felt after watching it. Everything I felt and knew was validated by this single film, and a part of me grew up overnight.
The story is about a trans woman called Bree, who goes through gender reassignment surgery. Not long after, she discovers that she has a son and must decide what to do. So she does the right thing and goes looking for him.

The movie shows what it’s like to be a trans parent, and it got me thinking about what that would look like.
If you also want to go through HRT and eventually, gender reassignment surgery, the movie will have you thinking deeply about these things.
-
Kinky Boots
The last movie recommendation I have for you is one of my all-time favourites. It’s the kind of movie that can turn any shitty day around and lift your mood in minutes.
Just like Transamerica, this movie also came out in the 2000s and has since garnered worldwide recognition.

The story is about a guy called Charlie who ends up running his family’s shoe company. Unfortunately, the factory isn’t doing well, so he has to think of a way to save it. So when he meets up with a drag queen, he comes up with the idea of making kinky boots for drag queens and crossdressers.
I also appreciated that it accurately represented the trans community by featuring an actual trans actress in the role of a trans character. Give this movie a try this summer and thank me later.
Conclusion
That’s it, love. I made sure to include different categories of femboy movie recommendations because we can experience a range of emotions during the summer.

So if you’re having a crappy day, the comedy show and movie will give you a good laugh. If you want to come out to your loved ones, try ‘What if feels like for a girl’. And if you just want to lie back and reminisce about the good old days, try the timeless classics.
All the best as you have the summer of your life. Cheers!
