Panties: How to Buy the Perfect Size and Style for Crossdressers
Panties are the most intimate piece of clothing and as such, being born with male genitalia means that, as a crossdresser, it may be tricky to find panties that fit comfortably. Not only that, but we have a great variety of styles and fabrics to choose from, which makes the adventure of buying panties as terrifying as exciting.
We strive to look and feel sexy, feminine and, of course, comfortable. Wearing the right kind of underwear will not only enhance your butt and self-confidence but also, it will allow you to leave them on for many hours, amplifying those womanly feelings all day long!
However, choosing panties wrongly will affect how confidant you feel as a woman. The aim of this post is to teach you how to measure your hips, waist and choose the correct style and fabric, saving tons of money and achieving those perfect girly curves!
If you are wondering what size and style you should buy, read on and have fun shopping girls!
TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. Measure the right size
● First of all, get yourself a cloth measuring tape (alternately you can use any other kind of tape or cable and a ruler, although this method is more prone to error).
● Take all of your clothes so you can measure correctly. (If you are planning to use any kind of butt-enhancing shapewear or bodysuit, you should measure yourself wearing it)
● Measure your waist. Identify your hips by placing your feet together and, with your hands, search below the rib cage for the smallest part of your torso, that’s your waist.
● Measure your hips. Keeping your feet together, search for the widest part of your hip, that’s where you have to measure.
Now that you have your measures taken, there’s one more thing to consider before moving forward with styles and fabrics. Are you thinking of wearing a bodysuit or chastity device? Are you going to tuck yourself? If so, you should take this into account as it facilitates greatly the fitting of the panties. In this case, the measures you take will be more accurate, if not, you must look for panties with more fabric on the crotch area. Also, you can choose a more stretchy fabric making them fit better.
Below, you can find a size chart so you can compare your measures. Keep in mind that different brands have different size charts. Be sure to check thoroughly before adding anything to the bag!
● One more thing before we move forward
Choosing panties it’s also about your body type and the clothes you are going to wear. If you feature a belly (or even if you don’t), corsets, high-waisted briefs or shapewear go perfect with tight-fitted dresses.
On the other hand, if you want to lounge in your yoga pants, tight nylon panties will allow the skin to breathe and they won’t show beneath your clothes! Just make sure they are not too tight.
Furthermore, if you have a slim body type, high thongs, ruffles and bows will visually enhance your hips, ideal for those sexy photos!
2. The wonderful world of fabrics
There are a lot, and I sure mean a lot of fabrics to choose from and all of them have their charm and transmit a different aspect of femininity. Cotton, silk, lace, velvet, satin, bamboo-fiber, breathable fabrics, the list goes on and on and if you are still wondering where to start, fear no more, I’m here to help.
So first of, a comfy classic. Even though there’s also cotton underwear for men, the one used on panties is a little different: it’s softer and most times stretchier, that makes it a safe bet to start with. I would absolutely recommend starting building your panty drawer with some cotton ones. Given the fabric’s characteristics, it also allows for some riskier choices like thong or v-string (more on this later).
I just LOVE the feeling of satin on my skin, don’t you? Satin is not remotely as stretchy as cotton, so you must bear that in mind. This soft fabric emanates femininity and sexiness and you’ll feel that instantly as you put your panties on.
Combining girly vibes and cuteness, without compromising sexiness, comes a personal favorite: Lace. But also maybe the trickiest fabric on this guide. Lace stretches literally almost nothing and will tear easily when put to the test. Because of its nature, if you are going to wear them as is (without any bodysuit, chastity device nor tucked), be careful with lace-trimmed leg-holes, as you may feel your bits fall to one side or both, making them uncomfortable to wear.
Another personal favorite of mine, velvet is soft, shiny, cute and whoever is caressing you, won’t want the feeling of the fabric against your skin to stop. Velvet is often used with cotton, making them stretchy for an easier fit.
A soft, ergonomic, breathable and eco-friendly fabric, that’s easy to wear and perfect for the gym or any other physical activity. Bamboo fiber panties let you sweat through the fabric, preventing humidity and keeping you fresh down there. They are also perfect for hot summer days!
This fabric, along with the bamboo fiber and cotton panties, is perfect for working out. It comes in a wide variety of compositions since every manufacturer has its own formula but, personally, I love the no-show/seamless panties made by Victoria’s Secret, they fit really well and feel very soft against the skin.
3. Choose the right style
Now that you know your fabrics 101, it is time to choose the perfect style for you. One thing to keep in mind: looking for panties with elastic in the leg holes will help you keep your bits safely where they belong. Once again, if you’re wearing a chastity device, bodysuit or are perfectly tucked, then you may not take this into account.
The gaff is, in simple terms, a very tight-fitting piece of cloth, especially aimed to keep you safely tucked, designed with crossdressers and transgendered in mind. They come in different shapes such as bikini and thong, to name a few, and are extremely useful when going out en femme, giving you the assurance that no nasty bulk will show through your clothes even when you are wearing leggings or a tight fitted skirt!
One of the sexiest panty style out there but maybe the most problematic. Its lack of fabric on the crotch area makes it very difficult to choose the right size. If you want to avoid wasting money on underwear that doesn’t fit, I would recommend you to follow these 2 pieces of advice: First, if you want to buy a thong/v-string, try choosing one that’s made with stretchy fabric and look for panties that have a wider crotch section. Secondly, you may want to buy 1 size bigger than your normal size, especially if it’s a lace one.
In my opinion, the most comfortable panty style, bikinis provide support in all the right places. They usually feature a wide crotch, enough to fit everything just fine and elastic leg holes for extra security. This is one of those styles that allows you safely experiment with different kinds of fabrics to find your personal favorite!
Inspired on men’s briefs, boyshorts are simply the easiest style to choose the correct size. Although being an easy choice, they aren’t as sexy or feminine as some of the other options here, but don’t discard them so quickly: there are some very cute ones and are very comfortable to wear.
If you take a boyshort and cut the lower part on each leg hole you’ll get and cheeky. Cheekies are very cute and make your butt look like a peach to die for! They are also very comfy if you choose the right fit. Word of advice, stay away from lacy ones or those with a slim crotch.
4. Where to buy
Ready to shop girls? Let’s get to it! Personally, I love Victoria’s Secret, they have a lot of styles and fabrics to choose from and their quality is pretty good. With all that we have learned today, we will have no problem choosing panties on VS’s website and understanding size charts! Besides they sell 5 panties for $30, ideal for combining different styles and fill your panty drawer in no time!
If you are looking for something more luxurious, La Perla offers some of the most exclusive panties around the world. Although they are expensive, when you feel the fabric they use to make them, you understand the reason for the price tag.
Rihanna’s lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty, is another one you shouldn’t miss! All of their panties are comfortable and hot as hell!
Local panty/lingerie enterprise
Last but not least, if there is a local panty/lingerie enterprise, I would like to encourage you to buy from them. They are more likely to help you if you have any further doubts regarding size and fit. Besides, you would be helping your local community grow!
I highly recommend signing up to your personal favorites panty brands newsletters so you know whenever there’s a sale!
As we have learned, when you know how to buy your panties, the terrifying adventure becomes an enthralling and never-ending one. Having a plethora of styles of underwear will help you keep in touch with different aspects of your inner woman, so be sure to experiment and most importantly, have fun in the process.
