Making A Secret Instagram Page For Your Crossdressing Photos

Everyone is on social media these days.  Having accounts on various platforms has become as ubiquitous as having a phone in your pocket.  Whether or not you think that the growth of online social media is a good thing or not, it is how a lot of people choose to interact with one another; more than interacting, it is how we seek validation for our views and identity.

Being able to find validation as a crossdresser can be quite hard in real life.  But having an online presence can be a route to finding approval and praise for your femme persona.  I’ve found myself frequently in two minds about sharing some photos of myself en femme; my friends will see it if I post them, but I think I look good and I want the world to see. Making a second, secret Instagram would be my answer. Let’s discuss how to do it and what we can use it for.

Before opening a new profile

To start a new account to post your girlie pics and keep your friends and family from seeing them, you have to start from zero.  Meta, the company that owns facebook and Instagram, can quickly recognize your personal details and automatically link accounts together, or just suggest that accounts be linked together through this information.  I would begin by creating a new email address that isn’t linked to any personal details; don’t link up your phone number, use your primary email as the emergency contact address, don’t even use your smartphone to open the account.

I would use a different email site than you use for your primary email; Hotmail or yahoo mail instead of Gmail, or visa versa.  I wouldn’t even use the same browser when setting up and logging into the account.

Creating the new IG page

Once you’ve got a new email and you’re setting up your girly IG page, you’re instantly going to confront a dilemma; should the page be private, or public?  On the one hand, a private page will let you approve new followers and manage who can see the page, on the other hand this is going to massively cut down on the potential interactions you can have.

If you have properly ensured that none of your details can be linked to your real male identity, I would suggest by beginning with a public page.  Consider your profile photo carefully, as this is going to be the first thing people see.  If you’re going to use a photo of your femme self, consider blurring out or cutting off your full face.  Obviously, don’t use anything close to your real name, location, gender or marital status, lest you be found out by a diligent social media stalking friend.

Additional security measures

There are a few more things you can do to add a few layers of protection.  The first is to disable the feature that allows Instagram from suggesting accounts for you to follow.  This can only be done on a browser; it cannot be done on the smartphone app.  Click on the profile icon, find settings, click on it, and scroll to the bottom of the page.  Uncheck the box allowing similar account suggestions.  As before, there are pros and cons to this.  It will make it more difficult for other crossdressers to find you, but you can still search for and find pages you want to follow.  The pro is that it leaves fewer crumbs of evidence around the platform with which your activity can be found out.

Finally, once you’ve made some connections with other girls or crossdressers, you can create a close friends list with which to share stories or photos.  Find the privacy and security menu in your settings and turn off allow sharing.  No one else will be able to share your content on their page now.  You can also create approved users who will only see what you want them to see.

Filling the page with content

So this is going to be the fun part.  Finally you have a place to post your girly self and get likes and comments.  Be careful from where you upload your photos; as I said before, don’t upload from your smartphone.  I would transfer any photos to a computer and upload them from there.  This would minimize the background metadata that could result in unwanted information being shared.

Since you’ve started your page with 0 followers, and the idea here is to share your girliness with the world, while hiding it from those you’d rather not know about it, I would be conscious of all the hashtags you stick on your posts.  There should be no commonality between the tags on this account and your usual pages.  Hashtags for locations, activities and tags for businesses are all no nos.  Tags like, #crossdresser or #mtf would put your content into the ever-updating stream of girly selfies and glamour shots that us girls like to share.

Finally, as much as you would like to, don’t post your full face. Even heave make up does not trick facial recognition software. These programs tend to latch onto details that cannot be changed, like the distance between your eyes or the broadness of your mouth. Find your best angle that covers an eye or obscures your profile.  Consider the lighting for any photos, and make sure there is a good contrast between shaded and illuminated parts of your face.

Interacting with our crossdressing sisters is one of the most validating and amazing experience a crossdresser can have.  Social Media is a great tool to make secret connections with other girly girls if you can manage the background work and be mindful of what you share.
