Applying Too Much Eyeshadow- A Common Mistake With Crossdressers

05/26/2022

As crossdressers, we often want to make our eyes look as feminine as possible. We pile on the eyeshadow, thinking that more is better. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Applying too much eyeshadow can actually make your eyes look smaller and less defined. It can also create a “heavy” look that is unflattering and unnatural.

Some noticeable effects of applying too much eyeshadow include smudged and creased makeup, the appearance of dark raccoon eyes, and a clumpy or uneven application. However, there’re  some things you can do to achieve a more natural look. For instance, always start with a light eyeshadow base. This helps create a more even canvas for your eyeshadow.

As crossdressers, most of us are guilty of applying too much eyeshadow at least once or twice in our crossdressing journey. What causes this? Well, most of us aren’t experts at applying makeup, so it’s easy to accidentally apply the wrong amount.

In addition, some eyeshadows have a lot of pigment or are very pigmented. This makes them difficult to blend and leads to over-application because we can’t really tell what it looks like until after we’ve applied it. Lastly, we often want to create dramatic looks that use excess eyeshadow and end up using too much.

2. Applying eyeshadow for a natural look

Being a renowned crossdresser, I get a lot of questions about makeup. One of the commonest questions I get asked is, “How do you apply eyeshadow for a natural look?”

There are different ways to apply eyeshadow depending on the look you’re going for, but here is my tutorial for applying eyeshadow for a natural look.

First, choosing the right eyeshadow is important. When you’re going for a natural look, it’s best to stick with neutral colors. Neutral colors are typically shades of brown, pink, or beige color.

Once you’ve chosen your neutral color, start by using an eyeshadow brush to apply the eyeshadow all over the lid.

Next, use a small eyeshadow brush to apply any darker colors you want to use. I typically like to add a little bit of a smoky effect on my outer corner with a black or brown shade, but this step is optional. You can also use your finger to blend out the edges and make sure everything looks smooth and natural.

Powder eyeshadows are usually applied with a dry brush, but some formulations can be used wet for a more intense color payoff. Powder eyeshadows are available in a wide range of colors and finishes, from matte to shimmery.

Finally, there is the Glitter Eyeshadow. Glitter eyeshadows come in a loose or pressed powder form and contain small flecks of sparkly glitter. These eyeshadows can be applied with a dry brush or wet sponge-tip applicator for a more intense color payoff. Glitter eyeshadows are available in a wide range of colors and finishes, from matte to shimmery.

So, now that you know the different types of eyeshadows available, how can you use them to create an alluring look?

Here are some tips:

If you have blue eyes, try shimmery powder eyeshadow in a pale blue shade. For brown eyes, try using a matte cream eyeshadow in a chocolate brown shade. For green eyes, try using a glittery gold or bronze eyeshadow.

Overall, the type of eyeshadow you choose depends on your eye color and personal preferences. With so many different types of eyeshadows available, there is no shortage of options when it comes to choosing a flattering look for your eyes!

4. How to choose the right color of eyeshadow for your skin tone

First, find out your skin tone. This way, you’ll easily choose the right color of eyeshadow for your skin, instead of just using random colors and hoping that they match well.

There are a several ways of determining your skin tone, such as looking at yourself in a mirror and seeing if you have a warm or cool undertone. You can also try looking at your veins in the sunlight to see which color they are, because people with warmer undertones have more blue or green veins, while people with cooler undertones tend to have purple or blue veins instead.

Once you know your skin tone, start looking for eyeshadow colors that will complement it. For example, if you have a cool undertone, then you might want to try using silver or gray eyeshadow, since these colors will help to make your eyes look brighter. If you have a warm undertone, on the other hand, you might want to try using gold or brown eyeshadow, since these colors can help to make your eyes look more intense.

Overall, finding the right color of eyeshadow for your skin tone can be a bit tricky at first, but with some research and practice, you should be able to figure out which colors look best on you. Good luck!
